The Richland #44 School District consists of two facilities: our PK-6 students are in Abercrombie, while our 7-12 students are in Colfax. The District has a combined population of 1,500, including the communities of Abercrombie, Christine, Colfax, and Galchutt.

Richland Elementary

Richland #44 Elementary School is located in Abercrombie, ND, and is home to students Pre-K through 6th grade.

The elementary building underwent extensive remodeling and new additions in 2000. In 2011, another renovation allowed for the addition of a Pre-K program and additional classrooms. While the original gymnasium is still used, over the years the gym floor and bleachers have been upgraded.

In 2022 several safety updates were made to the bus drop off and playground areas.

Richland Jr/Sr High School

Richland #44 High School is located in Colfax, ND, and is home to 7th through 12th grade.

This building had extensive remodeling and new additions in 2000. In 2010, the Richland #44 Wellness Center was added to the high school. In 2011 a renovation of the elementary school allowed for the addition of a Pre-K program and additional classrooms. Also, in August 2014, we completed an addition and remodel at the high school that included a second gym (with stage), a new library, music room, media center, FCS room, and science room.

Custodial Staff

The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes the health, attitude, and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in the setup and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.
